Optilam™: a new generation of release materials for RFID inlay lamination

Ahlstrom-Munksjö Optilam™ is a new generation of anti-static release material with unique surface structuring abilities. It has been developed to help RFID prelaminated inlays manufacturers to optimize their lamination process and improve the final quality of their prelaminated inlays.

The launch of Optilam is a good example of smart things that can be done out of fibers. We leverage the unique technical characteristics of our Genuine Vegetable Parchment by exploring new applications. With this development, we bring added value for our customers in the RFID electronics industry.

A prelaminated inlay (or prelam) contains the precious chip and antenna of a smart card and thus is highly sensitive to the performance of the release material used during the lamination process.

Optilam is a smart and sustainable release material that has been specially developed to optimize the manufacturing process of prelaminated inlays dedicated to RFID smart cards. This revolutionary cellulose-based material plays a key protection role during the inlay lamination process.
